Looking for advice? Here's where to go at the Show

The Show is crammed full of experts who can offering money-can't-buy advice before you head to the mountains this season.

Booking a snow sports holiday can raise many questions about resorts, equipment and skills that are often hard to answer. The Telegraph Ski and Snowboard Show is a chance to meet with industry experts in both one-to-one appointments and in the Mountain Talks Theatre.

Looking for the perfect resort?

The Travel Genius Bar made its debut at the Show in 2015 and this year returns with its team of experts from the Telegraph Ski and Snowboard magazine. When purchasing your tickets, you can book a free one-to-one appointment with an impartial expert. After answering a few short questions about your holiday preferences online beforehand, and on the day meet with a member of the Travel Genius team for a 15-minute session.

Walk-up advice will also be on offer at the Travel Genius Bar, located at the entrance of the Show, for all visitors, but booking in advance is recommended to secure a spot and tailor-made advice.

Need advise on buying new equipment?

Gear specialists from Snow + Rock will be able to help you find the best kit to suit your needs. The experts will be sharing their knowledge of the latest trends and technology to help every level of skier and snowboarder with those tricky decisions that come when buying new equipment.

Pre-book sessions are completely sold out, but walk-up advice is still available from the bar located at the front of the show or from the Snow + Rock stand.

Want to get fit before the season starts?

The ever-popular Mountain Talks Theatre returns to the Show again this year, providing skiers and snowboards a front row seat with some of the industry's biggest names and top experts. Talks this year include ski fitness advice from ski instructor and personal trainer John Godfrey, who will be hosting a 30-minute interactive ski preparation, fitness and therapy session each day at the Show. 

Keen to learn how to keep safe on the mountain?

On the opening day of the Show, October 27, Dominique Perret, declared best freeride skier of the century by many industry experts, will be on stage talking about backcountry safety and how to prevent risks in the mountains with his company ISTA, the International Snow Training Academy. With avalanche-related deaths making the headlines frequently last season, Dominique will cover key stages of preparation and how ISTA can help skiers and snowboarder acquire the knowledge to understand, manage and prevent risks in the mountains.

Want to improve your ski technique?

Following a successful tour around the UK, the Warren Smith Ski Academy will be presenting the finale of its ski technique lab tour across the four days of the Show. The sessions provide skiers with three top tips for improving their technique ahead of the winter season, including interactive demonstrations of exercises and expert advice on boot fitting.

Interested in going off piste?

Also returning to the stage will be Richard Barker from backcountry skiing specialists, Kicking Horse Powder Tours, and Emily Sarsfield, Team GB Skier, who will be taking part in a Q&A session with the audience about how to get into off-piste and backcountry skiing.
