Tirol Tourist Board For:
During the ski season, the Austrian Tirol offers something for everyone. There are around 80 ski resorts in snow-sure locations, offering 3,000 kilometres of pistes, 300 ski schools and hundreds of modern lifts. Last winter, a new gondola called the Flexenbahn opened, linking Zürs and Stuben/Rauz, making the Arlberg region, which includes the resort of St. Anton, the largest resort in Austria. Plus, a new £52 million cable car, the 3S, is now in operation in Stubai. The tri-cable gondola is the longest of its type yet to be built in the Alps, and has entered the history books as it’s believed to be the biggest single lift investment made by any ski resort.
Other highlights in the Austrian Tirol include: cross-country skiing along the trails that the world’s best biathletes compete on in the Biathlon World Championships, following in the footsteps of James Bond in SPECTRE, with a visit to the dazzling ice Q, joining in with the legendary après-ski and hiking through snowy landscapes and discovering the multiple cosy mountain huts serving delicious traditional local cuisine.
Plus, representatives from a number of key resorts in the Austrian Tirol will be at the Ski & Snowboard Festival, including Innsbruck, Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, SkiJuwel, Ötztal, Ischgl and St. Anton am Arlberg.
