Best moments from The Telegraph Ski & Snowboard Festival 2018
Can you believe it’s been nearly a year since we adorned our winter attire and made our way to Battersea Evolution for The Telegraph Ski and Snowboard Festival.
It was so much fun, if you were there and want to relive the good-times OR if you’re a potential newbie and want to see what you missed we’ve collated all of our top moments from 2018. Let’s reminisce together….
Ultimate kick-start to the season
We promised the ultimate kick start to the season, and we definitely delivered. #TeleSkiFest was epic; we brought together all of the best brands, the best resorts, experts from the industry and high class athletes to Battersea Park. There is simply no better way to prep for the season ahead. With so many new entries to the line-up for 2018, it’s safe to say this was the best ski fest yet.
UK’s largest real snow big air
Mount Battersea returned, standing as tall as ever – at a mere 50ft (not bad for a park in London eh!). Athlete’s including none other than Billy Morgan showed up and did not disappoint. Demo after demo, epic trick after epic trick – it was electric. With real snow supplied by The Snow Centre Hemel Hempstead it’s the closest you’ll get to being in the Alps, whilst staying in the remit of zones 1-6.
Hit the slope for free
If watching your fave athletes up on Mount Battersea had you wanting to test out your ski-legs, London’s largest indoor ski centre Chel-Ski let you up on their own slope for free. Whether you’re a seasoned-pro wanting to brush up on your skills, or a novice keen to try the sport out for the first-time the option was there.
Plan your dream ski holiday
It was the ideal time to find your dream resort and plan your ultimate ski holiday. All of the most popular ski resorts from France, Italy, Switzerland and Austria were there, as well as lesser known destinations from Norway, Japan, Slovenia, Korea and the USA. Once you’ve made the difficult decision of where you want to go, it was the perfect time to make the most of exclusive deals on offer from tour operators.
Street Food Village
The food last year was delicious! For 2018 we introduced the Street Food Village (basically a foodies heaven), on offer was everything from handmade greek souvlaki to unbelievably tasty burgers from Rad Burger. Prepare for your taste buds to be blown away.
Meet the Olympians
After a successful Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang Team GB skiers and snowboarders made their way to The Telegraph Ski & Snowboard Festival. The line up included bronze medalist Billy Morgan, Paralympic medalists Menna Fitzpatrick MBE and guide Jen Kehoe and Millie Knight and her guide Brett Wild, as well as snowboarders Jamie Nicholls, Aimee Fuller, Katie Ormerod and skiers Pete Speight and Emily Sarsfield. The team met fans and took part in a live Q&A on Mount Battersea.
There was way more for kids to get involved in last year. Snow+Rock brought a digital climbing wall and Tootle and Nibs gave your little ones the chance to get creative with hands-on arts and crafts. As well as the Crystal Ski Holidays ice-rink, Crystal also gave kids the opportunity to design their very own skis and snowboard and have it made in real-life. Check out the winner’s finished result…
The latest in ski fashion
With a selection of the best ski retailers in attendance it was the perfect opportunity to grab a few new pieces of kit before the start of the season. Whether you wanted the latest ski-suit, a new pair of high performance skis or wanted to make the most of Finches boot-fitting service – everything was there. Tweet us @TeleSkiSnow to let us know what brands you would like to see this year.
